   1. It is a good idea to make sure that there are turkeys in the area you are considering hunting, talk to your local sporting goods store, they are a good place to begin.
   2. You should only hunt during open season for turkey
   3. You should purchase any license and tag required for the hunt
   4. You should decide on which type of weapon you want to use to take the turkey
   5. You should become proficient with the weapon, slate call, and with the rules of fair chase. Get a dvd of instruction on using the call, and when to use it…
   Then, have a great time, remember it is about the hunt, not about the kill, if you get a turkey, that is all the better…good luck and be safe.
